Thinking about joining the Variety Bash but not quite sure where to start?

If you’ve ever thought, “maybe one day”, here’s how to turn that into “we’re doing it”.

From finding a Bash car and building your crew to fundraising and finally hitting the road, getting involved might be easier than you think.

The Variety Bash is one of Australia’s iconic charity motoring events, bringing together colourful cars, incredible communities and people who want to make a difference for children across Australia.

How to Join the Variety Bash | Get yourself a Bash car

1. Get yourself a Bash car

First things first: you’ll need a car.

Already have one? Great. If not, there are often Bash cars available for sale through the Variety community.

Bash cars are part of what makes the event so memorable. They’re full of personality, often decorated around a theme, and become a big part of your team’s identity along the way.

Once you’ve found the right car, you can start thinking about how you want to make it your own.

2. Find your Bash mates

The Bash is even better when you share it with people you enjoy spending time with.

Your crew might be made up of friends, family members, workmates or a combination of all three.

You’ll spend plenty of time together on the road, meeting other Bashers and taking part in the adventure, so finding the right crew is an important part of the experience.

For many participants, the friendships and community are one of the things they remember most.

3. Pick your adventure

Variety Bash events take place around Australia, with each event offering its own route, character and community.

That means you can choose the Bash that works best for you and start planning your adventure.

Each route offers something different, but the ingredients stay familiar: colourful cars, country roads, plenty of laughs and the chance to meet communities along the way.

4. Make it official

Once you’ve chosen your event, it’s time to register your car and crew.

Registration confirms your place and gives you the information you need to start preparing for the road ahead.

Your local Variety team can also help guide you through the process and answer questions as you get ready.

5. Start fundraising

Fundraising is a big part of the Variety Bash.

Each crew raises funds to help Variety support children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.

That might involve events, workplace fundraising, sponsorship, community support or simply calling on your network to get behind your team.

It can feel like a big task at first, but many Bash teams find fundraising becomes part of the fun — and a great way to bring people along on the journey before the event even begins.

6. Hit the road

Then comes the part you’ve been working towards.

ack the car, meet your fellow Bashers and get ready to hit the road.

The Bash is about adventure, mateship and making a difference. Along the way, you’ll experience places you may never have visited otherwise, meet people from communities across the country and become part of a much bigger Variety family.

And while the cars and adventure are a huge part of it, the reason behind the Bash is what brings everyone together: helping create more opportunities for children across Australia.

Ready to start your Bash story?

If you’ve been thinking about joining the Variety Bash, there’s no need to have everything figured out before you begin.
