John has been a voluntary Board Director of Australian DGR status Charities and Foundations since 2001, joined the Variety Australia Board in 2017 and was appointed Chair in February 2021.

An active event participant and fundraiser for Tent 56, Variety the Children’s Charity NSW/ ACT since 2007, John supported various marketing, fundraising and revenue committees before joining the Board in 2012 thru 2026 including acting as Chair from 2018-2020 over COVID. He remains a major donor, supporter and fundraiser. John is also the longest serving member on the current Variety the Children’s Charity International Board based in Franklin, USA and since 2019 has participated in and chaired various international committees including his current role as Chair of Legal, Governance and Operations.

John remains Managing Director & controlling shareholder of the Australian Structured Finance Group and associated entities that he founded in 1984- establishing more than $5 Billion in financing facilities over the period. He is a past Chair of his industry association – The Australian Equipment Lessors Association/ The Australian Finance Industry Association.

John holds Bachelor and Master of Commerce degrees (Accounting & Finance), offers strong business development, relationship building and fundraising experience – both at micro and macro level. He has extensive financial management, governance and compliance experience at Committee/Board/Council level within charitable foundations and industry lobby groups. He has a decades long affinity with Variety and is a global leader for Variety the Children’s Charity.
