Variety WA celebrated the 2024 scholarship recipients at a special event held at the Perth Mess Hall in July. A total of 48 recipients were acknowledged at the celebrations, which featured dance, musical and singing performances, the Variety Choir and keynote speakers, Paralympian Rhiannon Clarke and Grahame Mapp AM, former Variety International President, and one of the founders of Variety Australia.
Clarke who was recently announced as Variety WA’s new ambassador, competed at the Paris Paralympics and said the funding she received through Variety assisted her to reach her goals: “Through the scholarships program, Variety supported me to reach my goals and exceed my own expectations to be able to compete at an elite level.
“These scholarship recipients are talented in their respective fields, and I can’t wait to see what each of you achieve in the future and the Variety Heart Scholarships are something to help you on that path.” She said.
Variety Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chatterton was thrilled to announce the increased support of the Grahame Mapp Family Foundation: “We were delighted to host past Variety International President, and one of the founders of Variety Australia, Grahame Mapp AM, and his wife Sue, for a special visit to Perth.
“Mr and Mrs Mapp joined members and supporters at the Variety Heart Scholarship celebration at Perth Mess Hall, where they announced new major national sponsorship of the scholarship program through The Grahame Mapp Family Foundation.” He said.
