Variety WA Ambassador, Paralympian Rhiannon Clarke, today accepted an International Award at the Variety United Kingdom (UK) Disability Sports Awards held in London on Monday 25 November.
The awards are the UK’s only annual sports awards dedicated to celebrating people with disability—recognising passionate athletes who have overcome accessibility hurdles to achieve their goals, as well as clubs that have gone above and beyond to inspire change and inclusivity in their sporting field.
Variety WA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chatterton, said he was thrilled for Rhiannon Clarke to be selected to receive an award: “We are so incredibly proud of Rhiannon! She is a true role model in the field of athletics and is a dedicated advocate for what children with disability can achieve in their lives with the right supports in place.
“These awards are a wonderful way to recognise outstanding achievements in disability sports at all levels and the Variety International Award, accepted by Rhiannon is a new award this year and we are thrilled that she could attend the awards in person.” He said.
This well-deserved recognition celebrates Rhiannon’s outstanding achievements and her unwavering dedication to inspiring others through sport. Her journey embodies the spirit of resilience and determination, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her as part of the Variety WA family.
Judging panels for the awards are made up for representatives from the National Sporting Bodies, Channel 4 and Paralympics Great Britain. Panelists then vote individually for their preferred winner in each category.
