Variety the children’s charity of Western Australia, is very pleased to welcome new and returning Board members and officer bearers for new terms in 2024.
Appointed at the Annual General Meeting on Monday 11 December 2023, a new Chief Barker, Jay Wakefield, was warmly welcomed to the position.
Jay is looking forward to an exciting year ahead with a revamped events and fundraising calendar creating a new momentum for the organisation:
“I’m honoured to accept the role of Chief Barker at Variety. I look forward to continuing to offer guidance and expertise to the Board as we strive to reach more children in need and offer expanded opportunities to give back to WA communities through our refreshed events offerings in 2024.
“I have worked with Variety since 2015, in several different capacities including as a sponsor, motoring event participant and most recently as Board Treasurer.
“I am excited for 2024 and all it has to offer and I am very much looking forward to welcoming new Board members Simone de Been, and Glenn Cornish who each bring considerable passion and expertise to the roles.” He said.
Variety Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chatterton said Jay’s knowledge of Variety and his considerable professional experience make him a standout candidate for Chief Barker: “Jay brings a wealth of accounting expertise and experience to the role and we are excited to have him on board as our Chief Barker. Jay has extensive experience with not-for-profit organisations and is a Chartered and Certified Practising accountant making him uniquely qualified and experienced for this role.
“Variety WA would like to thank outgoing Chief Barker, Bradley Dean for his six years of dedicated service as a valued Board member and Treasurer.
“Bradley has been a part of the Variety family since 2010, and he will continue to support our work for the kids of WA.
“Also leaving us in 2023, is Paul Burgess who has been a top fundraiser since 2009 and was an incredibly loyal and focussed member of the team, we thank Paul for his considerable work over the years.
“In 2024, we welcome to the Board new members, Simone de Been, and Glenn Cornish who each bring considerable passion and expertise to their Board roles. I would also like to acknowledge returning Board members Deputy Chair Geoff Robb, Treasurer Roy Mellon, Secretary Chris Rimmer, Anthony Begly, Don Brooker, Glenn Cornish, Simone de Been, Berry Johnson, Mandy Prindiville, Jenny Rachmat, Kathy Ziatas.” He said.
