The Variety WA annual 4WD Adventure finished on the weekend after a week-long off-road trek around the state’s scenic southwest. From Saturday 27 April to Saturday 4 May, a group of 4WD enthusiasts participated in an unforgettable off-road experience through forest tracks, challenging hills and beaches.
The tracks took drivers of all experience levels through a total of 12 state forests, two beaches and some private property, including a day driving on the southern hemisphere’s largest inland dune system.
Divided into two four day “hub” set ups this year, the trip was designed so that enthusiasts could set up a camp for each leg of the trip. This ensures those who preferred to bring along their accommodation could access all their creature comforts in caravans or camper trailers, and camp set ups don’t have to be dismantled each night.
Variety Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chatterton said that the 4WD Adventure is an off-road trip with a difference:
“Organising this type of fundraising event provides a different way to build community and fundraise for the best reasons.
“The 4WD Adventure offers a unique trip for participants, which includes support for beginner off roaders as well as seasoned drivers – it offers a chance to try out some challenging terrains with full mechanical and medical support on hand.
We are so grateful to our amazing fundraisers and sponsors who put in so much to make this event possible. Huge thanks to: Magic Enterprises, Sovereign, Perth Detailing Centre, Maxliner, Midland 4WD Centre, Refresh, RM Surveys Gold Security Group, IGA, Donnelly River Cruises, Europcar, Taylor Rd and AFB.
“Variety is 100% funded by our generous donors and it is you that make our work to help WA kids in need a reality.” He said.
Running since 1996, the 4WD Adventure takes in different West Australian terrains and brings together the four-wheel driving community for a week-long adventure. The trip also includes all catering, and entertainment.
This year’s event raised at total of $177,192 and we would like to offer a heartfelt thank you from Variety WA to our incredible supporters. We are immensely grateful to all our participants in the 4WD Adventure 2024. Thanks to their incredible efforts and generosity, these funds will make a significant difference in the lives of children across Western Australia.
