Variety – the Children’s Charity is now in its 21st year of their iconic Variety Bikes for Kids program which has delivered over 13,000 brand new standard and adaptive bikes for kids who are living with disability, illness or experiencing disadvantage.
On Wednesday 26 April 2023, Variety Bikes for Kids will present 30 bikes, helmets, and locks to Rochester Secondary College and Rochester Primary School.
Rochester Secondary College and Rochester Primary School were severely impacted by the floods late last year, leaving the entire school flooded and many families displaced from their homes. Due to the buildings being inundated, portables have been set up on the soccer pitch as temporary classrooms for the entire school. The new bikes being granted to the school will be used for the schools’ bike education program.
Variety Victoria CEO Mandy Burns said “Variety and our community of fundraisers, volunteers and donors is thrilled to have a part in supporting the hard work, resilience and care of the Rochester community to rebuild in the wake of the devastating floods last year. The granting of bikes for the schools’ Bike Education program is a privilege.”
