Celebrating 21 Years
From Thursday 27 April to Saturday 6 May, thirty Variety 4WD Trek entrants will journey from Portland to the Barossa Valley, the long way round.
Just like the famous Variety Bash – on 4 x 4 wheels – the Variety 4WD Trek travels across Australia both raising funds for kids in need and distributing grants along the way. All the entrants colourfully theme the cars and themselves, delighting children and townspeople along the way. The Trek is all about travelling to remote areas and experiencing some of Australia’s best 4WD tracks whilst being supported by an experienced team of 4WDers. Radio communications, mechanical assistance and a scout to check the tracks, are all there to ensure that our entrants are safe. But most importantly they are there to make sure they have fun!
Commencing in Portland with a grant presentation of an all-abilities playground carousel, the long journey will see entrants experience beach driving on the way to Robe, incredible dunes in Port Lincoln National Park and the country’s best 4WDing on Googs Track before enjoying Australia’s favourite wine region, the Barossa Valley.
2017 sees the event celebrate 21 years, having travelled over 60,000kms and raised over $1.2 million for kids in need.
Variety – the Children’s Charity Victoria is dedicated to empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. We achieve this through the provision of equipment, facilities and life experiences and by operating a straightforward and transparent grants program which draws on the funds raised through our events, sponsorships and donations.
