The Variety Book Monster is hungry for pre-loved books, games and puzzles!
For the month of May 2019, The Variety Book Monster will be returning to all Shiploads stores state-wide, hungry for quality, pre-loved books, dvd’s, games and puzzles. Monster May officially opens on the 1st May 2019 and will run until the 31st May 2019. All items fed to the Variety Book Monster will be sold at the annual Variety Monster Book Fair to be held on the 16th and 17th August 2019 at Princes Warf 1.
Mohammad Aldergham, Variety Tasmania’s CEO says, “After running the Book Fair for 5 years, we decided to take a break in 2018 to revaluate the way we engage with our community and ask the question of what we really want to achieve through this great event.” “For this year, we are excitedly planning for a monster of a book fair to be held in August at PW1. We will be celebrating inclusion and literacy on the first day of National Book Week”.
To support this event, you can drop off your pre-loved, good quality books, dvds, boardgames and puzzles at any of the 13 Shiploads stores around the state throughout Monster May. Keep an eye out for the Variety Book Monster who will be visiting each of the Shiploads stores during the month of May.
You can also join the discussion on the Variety Monster Book Fair event page on Facebook where you can suggest your ideas for making this event the best bookfair event on the calendar.
Variety Tasmania has one of the widest children’s charity charters. Their mission is to support children who fall through the gaps of the system, through tangible grants to Tassie children under 18 years of age who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs. Every donated book, dvd and puzzle will enable Variety to raise much needed funds to continue their work for Tassie children.
The Variety Monster Book Fair will be held at Princes Wharf 1 on the 16th and 17th August 2019. All items can be donated during Monster May at all Shiploads stores, or at the Variety Tasmania office in Cambridge.
