Taya is a fun, creative, gentle and kind girl who enjoys school and getting out in the community with her family and friends.
Taya was born with muscular dystrophy which is a progressive and degenerative muscle condition and uses a wheelchair to get around. Her old wheelchair had massive limitations and she always worried about it not getting up stairs or fitting through doors.
Taya told us, “at the beginning of year 6 my old wheelchair broke and I had to get pushed around for two weeks in a manual chair. It was annoying, uncomfortable and it didn’t fit correctly to my desk in the classroom.”
