Congratulations to Variety SA Board member and Chair of the Variety SA Grants Committee, Dr. Bronte Ayres AM, who deservedly received the honour of a Member of the Order of Australia Award on Australia Day for significant service to children’s charities, and to medicine as a cardiologist.
Bronte has been a long- serving volunteer of Variety SA, first becoming involved with Variety as a Bash medico in 1992, a role which he pursued for 14 years, retiring after the 2005 event.
He also took on the role of medico on the 4WD Challenge from 1998 for nine years, retiring following the 2006 event.
Since 1995 Bronte has been and continues to be a member Variety’s Honorary Medical Panel.
From 2000 Bronte has worked diligently on the Variety SA Board and continues to this day.
He held the position of Chair of the Board in 2005/ 06 and 2006/07. In 2007/08 he was elected Chair of the Grants Committee, a position he still holds. During this time he has guided the Grants Committee in a highly efficient manner, through the investigation, analysis and granting of hundreds of grants worth tens of millions of dollars and assisting hundreds of thousands of children and their families.
We congratulate Dr Ayres and on behalf of Variety SA and the children and families whose lives have been made brighter as a result of his hard work, we say thank you for your years of commitment and dedication to kids in need in South Australia.
