Variety – the Children’s Charity of South Australia is thrilled to announce the official launch of the Variety All-Abilities Playground Program. This initiative will provide up to $1 Million dollars in vital funding to assist Education Department schools in creating inclusive play spaces that cater to children of all abilities.

Highbury Primary School is the first to receive this funding, their new playground features accessible areas for play aimed to break down barriers and create opportunities for social connection, exploration, and creativity.

Variety SA Chair, Sally Paech said “Inclusion is one of Variety’s trademarks and this playground is the latest example of where the Variety supporter base fundraising goes to work to enable all children the equal opportunity to have fun. The Variety Board has approved a major grant of up to $1 million per annum to support the roll out of all ability playgrounds in metropolitan and regional Education Department schools and I know all those in the Variety family will be very proud of this initiative”.

The Hon Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills said “All children deserve the opportunity to play – no matter their background or ability. The Variety grant will allow us to incorporate inclusive play spaces into schools across the state. It will provide so much joy to children that are sometimes left out and ensure we are making the most of every opportunity to enhance their education and engage and socialise with their peers”.
