The Classic Holden Car Club of the Northern Territory Inc. is a group of people of all ages with a common interest in old Holden’s, generally over 30 years of age. The club started in 1998 as the EH – HR Holden Club and was changed in 2000 to become the Classic Holden Car Club of the Northern Territory incorporated to involve a greater cross section of Holden owners. Membership currently stands at around 120.
The club caters for both original and modified cars in varying condition, not all cars are pristine as each owner has different ideals, tastes and use for their cars, members vehicles range from everyday hacks to award winning showpieces.
The club runs a little different to others as we don’t really have meetings, the committee meets regularly but as a club we just have monthly functions for people to attend without getting bogged down by details and politics. All financial members can attend committee meetings if they choose and AGM’s are a given and general meetings are called when the need arises. For us, time has shown that it is a good way to run a club.
While its members are mainly from Darwin, Palmerston and the rural areas, we also have members in Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Jabiru.
The family orientated group hosts regular events including runs, rallies and show ‘n’ shine days as well as social functions such as cricket matches, ten pin bowling and quiz nights. The club produces regular newsletters that detail club activities and members are willing to share their advice on all technical matters.
