Malachi is a 14 year old boy who is absolutely thriving in athletics
In foster care since the age of 3, Malachi has excelled with a truly inspiring list of sporting achievements.
Since 2018, Malachi has competed in the CIS Cross Country, PSSA Cross Country, CIS Athletics, Casino 2km Marathon, PSSA Athletics, National Cross Country QLD, National Athletics Melbourne and this only just names a few.
His accolades also include receiving the Premiers Award in both Cross Country Nationals and Athletics Nationals, BHC Primary Sportsman of the Year and was named Lismore’s Australia Day Aboriginal Citizen of the Year in 2019 due to his sporting achievements.
Most recently, Malachi competed at NSW All Schools Championships in Sydney. He competed and medalled in 6 events with 3 Gold & 3 Silver medals he achieved 4 PB’s and incredibly, set the U15’s Australian long jump record for his classification.
“Malachi displayed a love for Athletics from an early age so we do as much as we can to help him achieve his dream of becoming an elite athlete” says Annette, Malachi’s Foster Parent
Travelling far and wide for an array of competitions were becoming very expensive which is when Annette turned to Variety for support.
