Born in Melbourne, Tracey Stephens grew up with disability around her. She has an older brother who lives with Downs Syndrome, and a niece and cousin pass away from significant disabilities.
Throughout her life, Tracey has been heavily involved in caring for and supporting her brother, which now involves navigating the challenges of support from the NDIS.
Tracey is very passionate about special needs education and keeps up to date in policy and practices to support students in this area. She is involved with many professional special education groups within New South Wales and is involved in a Newcastle based wellbeing team that assists students who are experiencing disability and disadvantage throughout their network.
Tracey became involved with Variety around 20 years ago, and over time has completed 15 Bashes, 5 Splashes, 4 Mini Bashes, 17 Variety Kids Xmas Parties, and assisted the great Tony Tamplin to engage with schools on the last Bash before his passing. She is also married to the most passionate Variety supporter.
Tracey believes in inclusivity and providing opportunities for all in need. She would like to continue her contribution in assisting young people by any means possible, already doing this everyday within her job. Tracey is excited to go further with this passion for inclusivity through her expanded role as a Board Member with Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT.
