Residents of Campbelltown will soon be able to enjoy a new all-abilities and inclusive playspace at Glenfield Park. Variety is working in partnership with Campbelltown City Council to develop the new Variety Livvi’s Place Glenfield, with final designs now lodged.
The project is a partnership between the Variety and the Council, as well as NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (NSW DPIE).
Council has received funding through the NSW DPIE’s precinct support scheme to upgrade parks and build new community infrastructure on the eastern side of the railway line and the Glenfield Park playspace upgrade is a key project at this location.
“It’s important that every child can enjoy the experience of playing on equipment at parks, no matter what their abilities might be,” said Mayor George Brticevic.
“Variety Livvi’s Place playspaces set the gold standard for inclusive play destinations across NSW so I’m delighted that we’re able to bring our first one to Campbelltown and look forward to work starting on similar play spaces in the future,” Cr Brticevic said.
Variety has successfully partnered with other local governments to deliver similar playspaces in Bankstown and Taree, which are part of a national network of Livvi’s Place inclusive playspaces.
These facilities are thriving family destinations where all children are welcome and included.
“At Variety we believe that all kids deserve a fair go, including the ability to play,” said Variety – the Children’s Charity Inclusive Play Manager Kim Becherand.
“Variety Livvi’s Place Glenfield is an exciting part of our mission to make play available to all kids within their community. We have worked alongside Council and the local community to create an incredible playspace that will become a community hub where kids, parents , grandparents and the wider community can all play together in now and into the future.”
Features of the new playspace include:
- Double flying fox
- Sway fun glider
- Giant swing
- Water play features
- Bike track
- Rain wheel
- Climbing log
- Musical poles
- In-ground trampoline
- Sculpture areas
- Sandstone climbing areas
Construction on the project is expected to begin by September and be complete by December.
