More than 1400 local children experienced the magic of the festive season with Variety’s Kids Xmas Party at McDonald Jones Stadium.
The party – for kids who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability – is an annual highlight on the Newcastle Christmas calendar.
Variety NSW/ACT CEO, Tony Warner, said everyone had a great time at the fun, inclusive and accessible event.
“Variety is committed to ensuring that kids who often miss out, are given the same opportunities to join in and participate, regardless of circumstance or ability,” he said.
“Throughout the year, we deliver grants and programs to support kids and families across Newcastle and the Hunter and we know the incredible difference they make to families in need – but there is something special about hosting our Kids Xmas Party and seeing the joy on all of those delighted little faces.”
Party guests were treated to a full program of entertainment including Super Hubert, roving characters, circus tricks, inflatables, face painting, petting zoo, NRL and NRLW players, Bash cars and of course a free Xmas gift from Santa and Mrs Claus.
Tony thanked the Newcastle community for their support of the event, including the 70 volunteers who helped on the day.
“We couldn’t run this amazing event without the selfless individuals who share our passion for helping kids in need,” he said.
“To everyone who answered the call when we asked for a helping hand, thank you on behalf of every child who came along and shared in a truly wonderful afternoon.”
The Variety Kids Xmas Party is proudly sponsored by Woolworths, Creative Booth, Sweet Valley Baby Animals & Produce Co and McDonald Jones Stadium.
