Variety 4WD Adventure takes entrants on an Epic Park Run

February 18, 2025 by nswadmin

Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT is urging everyone to dust off their sense of adventure and celebrate 20 years of the Variety 4WD Adventure with an epic 7-day expedition through six awe-inspiring National Parks.

The 2025 4WD Adventure will begin in the beauty of Malua Bay and conquer rugged off-road tracks through Deua, Brindabella, Blue Mountains, Abercrombie River, Turon and Marrangaroo National Parks, before finishing in Katoomba.

The annual fundraising event is aiming to raise $300,000 to support children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.

In the 20-year history of the event, more than $3 million has been raised with more than 400 cars and almost 1000 entrants coming together to make friends and make a difference in the lives of families and kids in need.

Variety NSW/ACT CEO, Tony Warner, said the 2025 event reached capacity early so there are now two trips scheduled: 1 – 8 March (sold out) and 22 – 29 March (places available).

“We have 50 cars with 102 participants and 10 support crew travelling with us across the two expeditions. It’s always popular because it’s the ultimate turn-key event – we handle all the planning and logistics so our entrants can focus on the fun and adventure,” he said.

“We have people travelling down from Queensland and up from Victoria to visit parts of NSW they’ve never experienced before. We have many entrants that have returned year on year to uncover hidden gems and landscapes that have to be seen to be believed.”

In addition to exploring the stunning backroads, entrants will also have the chance to see the difference their fundraising efforts make with almost $30,000 in grants being delivered to six schools on route (see details overpage).

“Some of the regional and remote schools we visit are tiny with less than a dozen students and some are desperately in need of resources – whether its playground equipment, library books or new technology devices,” said Tony.

“Variety is committed to ensuring all children have the chance to thrive, regardless of their ability or background, so we are always thrilled to help to unlock doors for students and teachers in these country communities.”
