Outback Australia
It’s hard for me to pick a singular ‘Best Bash Memory’ as I’ve ‘tasted’ so many from both sides of the event, that being a Basher initially and now an Official. Being selfish, it’s just getting out on the Outback dirt roads and having a good drive with a bunch of mates. Too many good party stops on some of Australia’s signature dirt tracks to select one. Then there are the school presentations that make a difference. My number one here is at the Willans Hill (Special) School in Wagga Wagga in 2005 on the Bakery to Bethany Bash. We provided the school a Liberty Wheelchair Swing and at the presentation the school kids sang to us the Queen song, “We Are The Champions!” But they changed the words to “YOU are the Champions” and they all pointed at us on the word YOU. I’ve never seen 350 Bashers cry in unison before or since that presentation!
