We’re ain’t afraid of no cold! It’s been a long time between Nationals and we are chomping at the bit to get amongst it (even if it is in a slightly cooler climate of South Australia…in August!) – we may be small but we are mighty here in the NT.  Join our convoy as we figure out how to get around SA and try not to get lost whilst having a ton of fun doing it in our very unique NT Bash style!

If you’re returning for another Bash with us or ready to be a Bash Virgin, you’re sure to have an amazing adventure. Just make sure you pack your sense of fun, humor and adventurous spirit.

There’s no better way to have a crazy fun holiday than on a Variety Bash, it’s a week of fun, frivolity and a whole lotta “organised chaos”. It’s not a rally or a race, but a week-long drive through the outback with like-minded funsters to celebrate a years’ hard work of fundraising for Variety NT kids.  Each team must raise a minimum of $5k ($4k if you’re based interstate) for the kids,22 Bash teams raised over $280k in 2024! It’s a win-win- the kids benefit from your amazing fundraising efforts, and we will take you to see places you’d never thought you’d see, and you will have the time of your life, catching up with old friends and making life long new mates.

There will be plenty of fun and shenanigans along the way, loads of entertainment, mudguard parties, school visits and much, much more and the scenery, oh the scenery! Just you wait until you get a load of the gorgeous sights, we have planned for you.

Vines to Mines will take you on an winding tour of SA, don’t worry, your Bash Chairs Aaron & Luke are from down that way so they’ve got it all sussed out. You just need to turn up ready for a good time!

You will be supported by a full Official Crew including Pathfinders to guide you, Mechanics to keep you going, Ambo’s to patch you up, Sweep to get you moving and Baggage Truck to carry your gear. So, with our team of Officials and a helping hand from Bashers, we will see some of the most rural and remote parts of outback Australia in a unique and FUN travel style you will NEVER, NEVER forget.  Where there are dusty, corrugated roads, there we will be.

Registrations Opening Soon! As always we will be running our Early Bird Prize, any teams who register before a date we pick (cause we haven’t yet) will go in the draw to win a prize that we’ll come up with (cause we haven’t yet, but it’s normally paid accommodation at the first night’s location).

School Visits

The smiles and joy you get from rolling up to a school in your Bash Car and Costumes is second to none!  We’re here to bring loads of laughs and fun for the kids, feel free to bring along gifts to hand out.

What is the BASH?  

Australia’s largest and longest running charity motoring event – much imitated, never bettered!  The Variety Bash is not a race or a rally, it’s a fun and social event, or in the words of the originator Dick Smith, ‘A drive in the outback with a few mates’ in cars that are at least 30 years old, with an awesome theme!  It’s a once in a lifetime chance to experience remote and regional parts of Australia that you might otherwise not see, all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity. Throughout the Bash, participants visit local towns, stopping into schools and organisations to visit the kids.

The single most significant rule of the Bash is to relax and enjoy the Australian Outback and help raise funds for kids in need!  Check out the Bash History to find out more

• Minimum of 2 crew
• Cars must be at least 30 yrs old
• Cars and Teams must have a fun overall theme, costumes are on from Day 1 and stay until after the Final Night
• Teams must raise a minimum of $5k for Variety NT ($4k if Team is based interstate)

Make sure to download and read the Bash Handbook– it’s your ultimate guide and ensure your baby on 4 wheels is Bash ready with items such as dust light, sump guards and Bash plates.

It’s All Fun & Games…

Theme Days – Each year we have 2 added theme days on the Bash. Coordinate your day to the theme and have some fun and you could well win a Chairs’ Choice prize!  Stay tuned to find out the 2025 theme days…

Each team must raise a minimum of $5,000 (if NT Bashed and $4,000 if interstate based) for Variety NT to enter the Bash, and the Bash must be pretty amazing because teams do this plus more each and every year. These crazy folk just don’t want to miss out on the Bash Party, which we totally understand, it’s one heck of an incredible experience you will never, never forget!  Remember to run all fundraisers past us by calling or emailing through your details.  Check out the current FUNdraisers

We celebrate your fundraising efforts with Heart Awards given out at the Welcome Dinner and in a first for a very, very long time, we have updated our fundraising award levels! Take a look

TOP HAT – Highest Fundraising Team Overall
PLATINUM – raising $60,000 and above
DIAMOND – raising between $30,000 and $59,999
RUBY- raising between $17,000 and $29,999
GOLD – raising between $13,000 and $16,999
SILVER – raising between $9,000 and 12,999
BRONZE – raising between $5,001 and $8,999
WHITE – raising minimum required funds $4,000 for interstate teams, $5,000 for NT based teams

Eat My Dust!

The Eat My Dust Award is for the highest banked fundraising at the halfway mark (1 Feb 2025). Keep banking those funds and you’ll be in the running for a great prize (which we’ll come up with soon!)

To help us identify payments easily and allocate correctly please use these tips on entering information into the Reference section of your bank deposit:

A great way is to use the Bash Donation portal – https://www.variety.org.au/nt/variety-nt-bash-donations/  This portal lists all Bash Cars in a drop-down list!  Ask us about QR Code stickers for your Bash Car.

Officially Legends         The overall Best Support Team as chosen by the Bashers

Daly Waters ‘Virgin’      The Best First Time Basher (this award wins registration of your car into the next years’ Bash!)
